Most patients with pure benzodiazepine overdose will usually only exhibit these mild CNS symptoms. There is an antidote, flumazenil, but its use is controversial. Supportive care is the mainstay of treatment of benzodiazepine overdose. Severe symptoms include coma and respiratory depression.
